Mans lost more fortune than any individual in history. Sounds like hes competing against himself tbh

I was genuinely curious about who actually has lost the most money as an individual so I went to go look it up. It's Musk lmao you weren't exaggerating. I thought maybe it'd be like Louis XVI or one of the Medicis or something. Nope ahahaahahhha

Legit lost $182 billion at that time since 2021 and doubtlessly more about now. That is absolutely staggering. I don't even think adjusting for inflation is knocking him off that crown

And after this historic loss he still gets funding to blow 55 billion on Twitter after not actually wanting it. blob-no-thoughts

That's what I wanted to look up. "Surely there's a king like Nicky Romanov or some historically wealthy person like Crassus that's lost more." And nope. Even adjusting for inflation or buying power, it looks like Musk holds the title for "Most money lost by a single individual from their own personal wealth."

There's been companies that have lost more and multiple countries. Musk is just that bad lmao

I'm looking for that. Countries that have lost money. In particular due to covid etc. Just for comparison.

The big one was the Great Depression and stock market crash. A lot of businesses and banks went belly up overnight.

From source. "Bank deposits: Millions of Americans withdrew deposits from banks that closed, resulting in an estimated loss of $6.8 billion, which is equivalent to $136 billion in 2023 dollars". Now different in context but..... Well sadness-abysmal

Banks also weren't legally required to have all their customers' money, so some people showed up to withdraw their savings and there was just nothing there. Really cool to have your retirement plan dissappear into thin air (happened to my grandpa) 😀

Anytime someone complains about how Stalin took away their egg kingdom monopoly and pony, I just laugh and think "Wait until you hear what capitalism did to both sides of my family on opposite sides of the world."
