There are jobs that simply by their nature require long hours, if anything studios would rather the high paus union people on set be working less hours but a reality of film work is you bust your balls for a couple months and then have a month off and even then the on set time is often just being there, like a firefighter being in the station for two weeks and then two weeks off. They're on duty, they're on the job and have some stuff to do but they're around to put out fires
