I'm primarily a guitarist, so a Bass VI that's just a long scale guitar an octave down from standard tuning would be fun
I mostly play in C# standard and drop B on a six string guitar. I've played 7 and 8 strings before but have never owned one. 7 string drop F# would be neat since it's adding a perfect fifth to the bottom of a C# standard six string that gets you the low F# of a standard tuned 8 string guitar. If I went with an 8 string, I'd definitely start out trying to learn with drop E. (Big AaL/Mestis/T.R.A.M. fan too)
