Théophile Ferré was a leader of the Paris Commune who was executed by the French government on this day in 1871. Ferré personally authorized the execution of the archbishop of Paris and was the first of 25 Communards to be executed.

Little is known about Ferré's early life, before his participation in the Paris Commune. After Paris was seized by revolutionaries in March 1871, Ferré served on the Commune's Committee of Public Safety, a body given extensive powers to hunt down enemies of the Commune.

On April 5th, the Commune passed a decree that authorized the arrest of any person thought to be loyal to the French government in Versailles, to be held as hostages. Prominent figures arrested included a Catholic priest Georges Darboy and the archbishop of Paris. The Commune hoped to exchange their hostages for Louis-Auguste Blanqui, a revolutionary and honorary President of the Commune, imprisoned by the state.

Following the events of the "Bloody Week", in which the French government summarily executed many suspected Communards, Ferré authorized the execution of several hostages, including Darboy and the archbishop.

After the resistance of the Commune collapsed, Ferré was captured by the army, tried by a military court, and sentenced to death. On November 28th, 1871, he was shot at Satory, an army camp southwest of Versailles. He was the first of twenty-five Communards to be executed for their role in the Paris Commune.

    VTuber/streamer posting

Unless this is a massive fake out by Fauna, looks like this is just Hololive graduation season--Aqua, Ame, Chloe, and now Fauna all in the space of three months. I only followed her very casually on her previous account (LemonLeaf) so I didn't even realize she'd joined Hololive for like a whole year until I saw a random clip and was like, "Wait, I know that voice..." She posted a few random clips on her original channel recently which made me suspicious, but a "serious announcement" stream all but confirms it.

I feel like she's really come into her own during her tenure at Hololive, so I hope she can have even more fun once she's freed of the corpo shackles! She's by far my favorite Holomem (vegan life sciences nerd with a comfy aura and a mischievous streak, what's not to like?) and tbh I mostly watched her for her solo yapping/gaming streams so I don't feel like I'll be missing out too much on interactions with other members and such. Wonder if/how much she'll overhaul her character design...seems sort of incongruous now that she's doing a more natural voice

I wonder how much of this is Cover becoming more ruthlessly profit-driven as a result of going public last year, thus increasing the workload on its talents (I think all of them have cited overwork), and how much is people just naturally wanting to spread their wings (and stop forking over a huge chunk of their paycheck) after building up a following. I've always suspected that, even considering the recent nastiness with Selen/Dokibird, the primary difference between Hololive EN and Nijisanji EN is not the actual internal company goings-on but that HoloEN's numbers are so bonkers that the pay would be enough to smooth over a lot of issues and make people think twice about leaving, whereas for NijiEN there's less loss aversion because even the top members have relatively low viewership (Luxiem's peak notwithstanding); it's possible a shift in company priorities has tipped the scales. Very curious to see how things develop going forward.

    edit: confirmed graduating January 3rd
