Edit

Somebody can subscribe to blocklists without ever actually talking to the accounts. In other words - if I have a hammer and sickle Unicode character in my bio and those turds have put me in their list - I'm blocked by all the subscribers.

Oh OK thanks for explaining. IDK I don't use social media but if this is an opt-in thing for users that seems fine I guess.

      seems fine

It's not fine at all. It's horrible in fact. The accounts making the lists are in no way vetted. They are just random people (and orgs?) doing whatever they want. Imagine there's a post with say ~20 likes - and I say "The democrats are fucking dogshit." Somebody could put me in a "fascist" list for simply for having an opinion they don't like. Maybe their definition of fascism is horseshoe bizarre or maybe they don't give a fuck and it's just a game for them. They use the list to punish people and opinions they don't like.
