There's been a lot of shitflinging on my TL concerning this tweet. Honestly, I'm not sure. Can the "not touching the opposite sex" thing can be just a quaint local tradition or is this necessarily associated with misogyny and patriarchy?

I don't think I've ever known a Muslim like that but in my experience orthodox jews like that are more likely to be misogynistic than not...

    I saw this lady's horrible tweet too, but I think it's fair to say most of the discussion happened outside of its context, before people unearthed it.

      That's fair, but I think it's always important to keep in mind that when people make broad criticisms of the culture in a majority Muslim country they're usually not doing so with any amount of nuance or perspective. And it also definitely vindicates the "white woman moment" comment.
