There's something really rather dour about the way we talk about serial killers. So many of them are treated like criminal masterminds that just made one mistake but in reality they had like twenty encounters with the police and each time the dumbfuck pigs let them go.
Literally how many times have you read something like "All the neighbors were complaining about the smell of rotten flesh and called the cops. They knocked on his door and he wasn't in so they left."
A lot of the time all you had to do to be a serial killer was just target homosexuals and sex workers and you'd get away it with it.
I was telling my mom a couple weeks ago about how the pigs almost had Dahmer and she was floored at the sheer incompetence and callousness. This is doubly important if you're a serial killer in a country where murdering people is allowed, as in this case being SAS in Afghanistan.

Not only did they have him and let him go, they brought some poor kid who had actually escaped from him back to his house for him.
