Proctorio is an algorithmic ("AI") Internet based exam proctoring service. That is, it does not use a live person as proctor. It is also proprietary and retains student data. I had to use it while at university, it was rather unpleasant.

      yeah, they also make you hold up ID to the camera. if it flags you as "suspicious" for whatever bullshit reason it'll make you scan your entire room with the camera

      Yes. It's the automated one. For me it was free to use, versus paying someone to proctor in-person or to pay a proctor to do a live proctoring (with the same thing) online.
