Proctorio is an algorithmic ("AI") Internet based exam proctoring service. That is, it does not use a live person as proctor. It is also proprietary and retains student data. I had to use it while at university, it was rather unpleasant.

yeah, they also make you hold up ID to the camera. if it flags you as "suspicious" for whatever bullshit reason it'll make you scan your entire room with the camera

edit: here's a good thread about it, https://twitter.com/ejohnson99/status/1303121786637373443 essentially their claims about security/privacy are complete bullshit

Yes. It's the automated one. For me it was free to use, versus paying someone to proctor in-person or to pay a proctor to do a live proctoring (with the same thing) online.

Here is their list of permissions. And it's proprietary software. https://blog.proctorio.com/why-proctorio-requests-certain-browser-permissions/

Thank you for the invite! Unfortunately, I don't have too much time right now, but perhaps sometime in the future.

I want to make them remove/delete any data they collected when I used their extension. Unfortunately, these companies often want more personal information than they already had when you put in a privacy request to remove your data.
