trying to bypass this stupid region lock to activate a Russia region key for Three Kingdoms that someone gave to me for free. apparently doing it via VPN doesnt work?
You could try making a new Russian steam account then cashing the key there and using steam share, which allows you to share games between accounts on the same computer.
That's interesting, I might try that out. I guess it goes without saying that I'd have to be using the VPN every time I want to access the Russian account.
So depending on the game, Steam might require you to be using a VPN but the game server might not care. I was playing a Hong Kong-exclusive gacha for a while and I only needed the VPN during initial account setup.
You might have to create a new account with your VPN. Maybe the account gets locked to the region you create it in?
Apparently you need to always be hooked up to the VPN anytime you play the game
