As a long time LARPer, I recommend carrying a flag on a pole to your LARP Sessions. They are generally legal to carry nearly everywhere, and they are very useful. Not only do they help maintain morale and show support for your side in a hectic field, they are also effective weapons. Thrust the tip forward in order to create space or deal a wound to an opponent. On the defensive, use the two ends to good effect for blocking blows. Be careful about swinging it, as this has the potential to hit a comrade next to you and leaves you vulnerable. Additionally, never leave the end extended, or am opponent may grab your flagpole from you, which sucks. Anyway, I hope you appreciate my LARP tips. More are on the way.

Yeah, the material is quite important. I use a simple solid wood pole, but I would be open to hearing your top tips

I hear that traditional finials on U.S flagpoles that are used for display have these nice and solid brass knobs.

I always figured they're nicer since they're not sharp or pointy like a traditional spearhead, eagle, or whatever other kind of flag finials a person might mount on their flag.

Nice, safe, unobtrusive, and simply stylish.
