This was about settler-colonial states in particular. Not to say I wouldn’t love to see the Bourgeois Russian state go through another 7-11-1917.

Well, I was only half joking...

I speak from experience, I live in an ex socialist country. Things were a lot better back then, poverty was almost non-existent... but people tend to look at the bad things of a socialist/communist society because... well, most are westerners here and they've been taught that way - communism bad, capitalism good 🤷. Sure, there were skeletons in the closet, but so do capitalist countries, so I don't actually approve of that argument.

I would love if Russia returned to socialism and genuinely supported anti-imperialist forces in the global south out of ideological conviction and earnestness rather than cynical realpolitik like it does now. And despite its many contradictions and flaws, the Soviet Union was a genuinely positive force which was an ally to liberation groups all over the world from the very moment it was born, while successfully demonstrating a different path for humanity away from the dismal grip of capitalism, which only "failed" after 70 years of constant siege/invasion from the capitalist powers. The world we're living in is but a consequence of its dissolution, now that the current capitalist hegemon has nothing to keep it in check.

sure, make comparisons between Nazi Germany, Apartheid Israel and ... Russia

Are Ukrainians being crammed into a strip being bombed constantly without food or water? Russia despite being reactionary in many ways (eg LGBTQ rights) is relatively tolerant towards religious and ethnic minorities.

      Such malicious comparison. Fuck you.

Actually, yes, Ukrainians that happened to live in the east of Ukraine are in fact stuck in a literal war zone without feasible way to live... unless they accept Russian "citizenship", that is

they can get to Europe because they are white enough. Its not an open air prison in the same way Gaza is.

Russian bombing campaign is nothing like Gaza. Gazans can't obtain Israeli citizenship, Palestinian passports aren't widely recognized. Meanwhile both Ukrainian and Russian passports are internationally recognized.

unless they accept Russian "citizenship", that is

A citizenship is a citizenship. No need for quotes, Russian citizens can get Russian passports, get access to Russian benefits and travel.

          Stop making silly comparisons.

The only people who can be compared to the situation Palestinians are in right now are Rohingya Muslims.

No shit, nothing is the same way Gaza is. Doesn't make it a non-issue. And "citizenship" deserves quotes if it's enforced by an invading military.

Also, good luck getting to anywhere, when all airports and major roads leading out of the occupied territory are blocked and/or destroyed.

Ukrainian militias have been shelling Donbas for about 8 years before 2022.

If you think the Western public is more anti-Isreal than rabidly anti-Russia, I don't know what to tell you.

Disclaimer: I think they're both fucking awful. Isreal is objectively worse though.

While it's true all of Western Europe is guilty, there's a reason why people point to Britain first and foremost. Its empire was pretty much the codifier of what people think of when the word "superpower" is used. There wasn't such an uncontested concentration of power in a single polity that could be projected globally until the UK came out on top from the Napoleonic Wars then went on to subjugate Asia and Africa by the mid-late 19th Century, essentially becoming master of the world market and trade networks (at least until the onset of WWI). Not even the Spanish and Portuguese Empires held such a monopoly. Even after the start of Britain's terminal decline into becoming America's lapdog in the cold war, it still influenced world politics in ways that still affect us today (relevantly, it was originally Israel's patron power before the US supplanted them sometime in the 70s/80s).
