I'm looking for a good, reliable way to download embedded YouTube videos. These videos are not always accessible on YouTube.com, so the method can't be specific to that site. Thanks for any recommendations!

"internet Download Manager". Stupid name , great tool. Not just for video-dl. Not free though, but only a fair pay-once.

It's a front end for yt-dlp, but lets you add other plugins too. I find it easier to use, because of the gui options :)
I have had the most success with Firefox, grease monkey and media downloader
