From trying to find some online self-advocacy guides, the frustrating thing seems to be that most self-advocacy resources are geared towards helping parents teaching their ND children how to self-advocate, and I haven't yet found anything that's geared towards helping ND adults learn self-advocacy themselves. I saw a post on r/ADHD today talking about something similar with how most ADHD resources online are setup for parents with ADHD children, and that even a lot of the research into ADHD was done with the goal of helping parents cope with their children's behavior, rather than helping people with ADHD cope with their disability.
It's frustrating 'cause it's not like we get a new NT brain the moment we turn 18, but there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of resources available past the point at which we're no longer legally required to be dependent on our parents.
Honestly making me feel like that's a peek behind the mask that we're basically expected to either have fully integrated ourselves by the time we're no longer legally dependent on a parent who's been shackled with the awful burden of raising a disabled kid or just fucking die
