So she needed some publications, and naturally I went to sci-hub. Except here's the thing: cairn is one of the less-well covered source for sci-hub; usually it actually doesn't work when you want a paper (sometimes it does, but it's the exception). Which was the case here.
Now, I used to teach at the local university before the pandemic; and it happens that my login is still active. I managed to get the papers for her this way; but it's disgusting. We live in a time where the entirety of human knowledge can be copied and distributed without any cost and these motherfuckers are putting up virtual walls for sheer profit. It's disgusting.
I'm not sure I care to be honest, but that's probably the anger speaking. Also because I had to spend ~20 minutes making that shit software Adobe Digital Edition work in wine about an hour ago just to remove DRMs with Calibre for my wife for yet another book she needed for the same exam. Fucking Intellectual Property bullshit.
