First wave British crust classics- Amebix, Antisect, Deviated Instinct, Axegrinder, Doom, Sore Throat, Extreme Noise Terror, Dirge, early Napalm Death are all a good start.
Early American crust - Misery, Nausea, Disrupt, Apocalypse, A//Solution, Glycine Max, Aus-Rotten (not really crust but adjacent, getting into crust adjacent is a whole other post)
A bunch of others off the top of my head: Instinct of Survival, Fatum, Extinction of Mankind, G-Anx, Counterblast, Panikos, SDS, Disturd, Skitskystem, Dystopia (they're also a sludge band), Skaven, Stormcrow, Cancer Spreading, Sanctum, Massgrave...
I've got more. This isn't touching on dbeat, anarcho punk, grind, powerviolence, noisepunk, crasher crust and related genres I tried sticking to mostly Orthodox crust here.

This blog can help you out a bit. Dude uploads records but does very lengthy writeups for them as well. Gives you time place and context.

No problem, it's probably the thing I'm most knowledgeable of. When you spend fifteen years or so mostly being a bum and seeing or playing in bands, you pick up a bit

Dystopia is a pretty atypical crust band, more sludge influenced. Crust is usually a good degree faster. As far as the vocals go, you either get used to it or you don't. It's not really a genre where people sing.
Listen to Dystopia’s Human=Garbage. It’s one of my all time favorite albums. Very heavy lyrics, melodic, cool time signatures.
