wtf is it with morons taking that umberto eco article as scripture? like goddamn, if you read one dumb book a year why not just drop the whole intellectual charade and join the feeding trough?

consuming slop is nothing to be ashamed of!

They haven’t read more into Eco or fascism beyond that.

Of course they haven't, as they literally think that reading theory is fascism.

That was exactly my point. These pigs will skim over posts and articles and often the only 'critical thinking' they'll do is for the purpose of determining whether the author is on their side or not . A number of times a year they'll read a book which confirms their pre-conceived notions. But it's all for the purpose of providing themselves with a special knowledge that those who disagree with them don't have. So they'll cite the stupid shit they read not to further the discussion but to make you feel like you're missing something crucial that only they have.

It's all just a way to claim superiority over another. Liberal academics do it for a living. PMC types can pull off the act very well also. But when it's a moron like in the pictured post, they come across as pathetic.

We are all eating from the trashcan of ideology all the time. Stop pretending otherwise is my defense.

Liberals completely misunderstanding leftist theory example 4269. Ur-Fascism isn't a checklist where "rate your fascist score out of 14." They are simply the aesthetics of fascism and they are important because fascism does not have a unifying theory. The point Eco was making is that fascism is inherently contradictory and nonsensical, but it can coalesce around any of these 14 aesthetics (usually more than a few).
