Tldr: during WW2 black women with husbands in the army decided to stay home and care for their own children. This made their former white bosses very upset, who proceeded to use the city government to press those women back into labor.

    probably did if it was during WW2. It was pre-civil rights act and the country was too busy "focusing on the war effort" to do anything about massive systemic racism.
