It's true but it is very curious how the media is only now acting concerned about it as if this hasn't been the norm in Peru and other similar countries. Wow gee no shit the candidate who won the presidency in a socially conservative country is socially conservative. Never heard of a poor country being socially conservative ever again! They know it works because liberals in rich countries think that just because gay marriage or whatever is the number one issue where they're from, it is the number one issue everywhere, and that they're not gonna bother to find out what the situation is in a foreign country.
