You try can Linux out without installing it(via live USB)? Check this guide but use Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu. You can also try it out via virtual machine.

Also try to switch to cross platform open source programs like these so you'll be able to use the same programs when you switch to Linux

    I really do recommend Linux Mint with Cinnamon for those looking to switch from windows, there is no learning curve at all, it's a distro that is great for people who use their computer to do things and don't want an intrusive operating system getting in the way, from beginners to advanced users. I've been using Mint for about 8 years now and haven't looked back.
