    If we're going to overanalyze this then I'm going to stop you here, point out that the drones are not capitalists, they were merely programmed by capitalists. Their programming tells them to expand. It does not compel them to consider whether there is "enough" of any resource; it simply compels them to expand, because that was their function to the capitalists, who arrogantly assumed that they would always be in control.

    A better explanation for a grimdark capitalist universe is that they purposefully kill suns in order to prevent the harvesting of free energy. Thus furthering reliance on non-renewable fuel sources.

    This is good, too.
