Brilliant- all my Youtube alts that I use on desktop with silly fake names and DOBs, including a couple I've been using for well over a decade, just started getting hit with demands to verify my age with a credit card or photo of my ID. :desolate:
I already had to verify my "official" google account I use on mobile devices with a credit card earlier this year. This fucking sucks, but I'm kind of tempted to try verifying one of them with my card again just so I can watch Youtube videos with swears on them
Update: I took one of my mostly unused extra accounts (glad I made a bunch of gmail addresses back when you didn't need a fucking phone number to register for one) and what do you know, I could just use the same credit card to verify my age again despite the names and DOBs not matching at all with not a peep from Youtube. Nope, not shady at all. Let's be honest here, they know who we are :deeper-sadness:
I have a horrible hunch this is the future of the Internet, no ifs or buts, just a straight up demand to see your ID or bank account before you do anything.
Interested to see if it would work, but apparently there's an additional danger of your account getting deleted if you don't verify your age after getting hit with the warning
I've been cultivating recommends for years on these accounts, and as much as I hate to admit it I do rely on the recommendation algorithm to find content :sadness:

Someone put me onto Vanced and I havent looked back. Also displays age-check content without the check
