In this episode we catch up on our project cars, respond to some listener mail (46:28), discuss some dumb shitty gadgets that promise to improve your car's fuel economy and performance but do the opposite (1:09), and a few news stories (1:50).

"Here's this little piece of shit I could buy and here's how much I could spend fixing it"
Me @ mighty boys :deeper-sadness:
Suzuki Mighty Boy? That a weird looking kei ute thing? Never seen one before, they don't sell them in the USA.
Edit: they're interesting though, I've often wanted a kei car of some sort. The Cappuccino is high on my list.
That's the one, unsafe as shit and now relegated to collectors so prices are higher than they should be, but they can fit precisely two cartons in the back and ive wanted one since I first laid eyes on it. Tiny ute is the dream car.
Ooo I'm gonna give this a listen.
I wish i had more comrads to talk about my mechanical escapades with. I bought an antique and somewhat rare(meaning hard to find parts, not sought after) enduro two stroke and I've been spending my weekends putting in blood sweat and tears making it safeish. Rebuilt the front forks, cleaned up the engine block, gave it a real air filter, replaced a rear tube, gave it an exhaust gasket that it was missing, replaced the clutch disks and springs, repacked an impossible to find sealed beam bulb, and some other misc stuff.
The past 3 years, I've only been able to work on my friends cars, but he's letting me store the bike in his shed. Its great having a project again.
Thanks! We've got 18 other episodes, but if you're into old two stroke bikes you might like this one: https://shoutengine.com/CarsComrades/scooters-and-mopeds-with-guest-scott-from-elephorc-100642
We said it in the podcast but I'll say it again here: if you're not a white/cis/het guy and you've experienced bigotry in the car scene/auto industry, please email us or DM us with your story, and let us know if you'd want to be on the show as a guest.

I'm old enough to remember pre-gps pre-phone direction, that actually has helped out a lot with gas (depending what settings you have) vs the old map method.
Do you mean a paper map with routes specifically designed for better mileage? I've never heard of that.
I meant the development of widespread gps has been better for mileage overall, less room for user error and all that.
There's exceptions to this, rural areas and rugged terrain, and I think that's why a lot of truckers even the young ones still swear by atlases (paper map collections). For example, GPS out where I live likes to try to make me drive into the local lake whenever it floods, and passing thorough any sort of elevation of forest you generally lose your signal.
I never heard of atlases specifically designed for better mileage, maybe ones that noted traffic peak hours at best in major cities (green, yellow, red roads) but that seemed rare.
Ah that makes sense. A couple weeks ago my phone's gps was off by a few hundred feet and it kept telling me to turn onto the road I was already driving on.
Someone was having trouble finding our RSS feed so here it is: https://shoutengine.com/CarsComrades.xml
So, I had some free time this last week and decided to listed to the last few months of episodes.
I'm not sure what I was expecting exactly but I can say that for a person who can turn a wrench but doesn't know squat about cars, I did find the shows enjoyable.
The intro/outro audio is fucking :chefs-kiss:
