Normally I'm pretty with new tech but I managed to figure it out and activate the cable. Now the fun part is going to be teaching my dad who's even worse than me with technology and he'll forget what I showed him like 500 times.

Hey congrats! Learning the basics can be very fun, reminds me of the time I messed around with just about anything I've gotten my hands on as a kid. The most important lesson of all this that I share with people is "You have to know how to read". Literally your only limitation to messing with technology is this, the amount of time you have and your patience. After that you can get just about anything done, the difficulty is usually offset by the quality of the documentation or info you have access to. The less or worse it is, the harder it gets.
And now I remember that if you want to feel like a master hacker you could try modding a 3ds, if you have one that is xdd
