Wife is a nurse, a bunch of her Republican coworkers are refusing to get vaccinated and will almost certainly have to choose between doing so and keeping their jobs in the coming weeks.

Oh yeah. Shit is fucked. It seems like every hospital is understaffed. The nurses are taking on way more patients than they're supposed to because housing has become too expensive because it's important to the economy for this entire fucking area for several hours in every direction to be packed with empty mansions. A large number of Americans, including everyone who controls this country, is just kind of committing slow-motion mass-murder-suicide.

Big protest in my area because the local hospital just announced they are going to require all staff to be vaxxed.

I hung out with some of the nurses yesterday, one of whom is a "traveler" who had just gotten back from the other side of the country where I heard about this sort of thing happening. On the plus side I encouraged the CNAs to unionize and one of them at least was very receptive.

How did they feel about vaccine requirements for hospital workers? I imagine vaccine hesitancy isn't that common with nurses?

There are rich rightwing nurses who have miserable pointless lives, and these have fallen down the QAnon hole very hard. They tend to be older and whiter. Then there are nurses who are immigrants or who come from much more modest backgrounds, and I think these are okay with firing people for refusing to get vaccinated. As always, materialism is the answer.

I just asked my wife if she could guess how many people are refusing to get vaccinated but she has no idea. All we know for certain is that these people are very very present.

              Thanks!

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Materialism has literally never failed me in many attempts at trying to make sense of the world.

Tbh the crowd seemed to be mostly boomers and only a couple of people in scrubs, some of whom probably weren't actually medical workers anyway

        Protests in America either

        1. Change one or two things if at all here and there while leaving the system intact

        2. Over something stupid
