Wherever he is, I hope he’s doing good. I don’t remember if he was an open communist when he was in the Virginia legislature but probably the least lib politician in America in a generation. Seemed like a pretty genuine dude, too. Feels like he dropped out of politics and has been pretty quiet since.
Not too recent, but I think I remember him still posting and calling out Genocide Joe about a month ago on Twitter. He is still around, but because he doesn't have political office, people don't pay much attention any more. As far as I remember, he was one of the better Soc Dems rather than an open communist though.
lol his twitter bio says “literally a communist”, but yeah I don’t recall him saying that when he was a politician (but I get why, Americans have an irrational reaction to that word).
he radicalized like crazy after his shitty experience with "democratic socialism" and his current partner pushed him waaay further left

Prob doing his own thing but he's got a watermellon in bio so I'd imagine he's still ok.

He was living on a plot of land trying to start a farm with his partner and their baby but moved back to civilization some time in the summer I think.
He didn't get re-elected but tbf he did get some cool stuff done like successfully pushing for the insulin cap in VA.
He absolutely is a bit of an autistic poster at heart and for that reason I forgive him for being annoying and I wish him the best. (he just like me)
Lee is locked/priv on twitter, mostly posting angry replies.
Mourning the death of his grandmother, Rosemary, and getting ready for his grandad Jimmy to follow.
Met him a few times, he’s a real good guy. Life in Virginia politics was hard on him, though he did flip a seat from a Republican and get reelected in a swing district. I think his run for Virginia governor was his way of getting out gracefully.
Not sure of he’ll get back into politics. I wouldn’t blame him, but the US needs more guys like him in power
he’s had a lot more than a divorce, dude goes through wives like they’re toilet paper
As someone that lives in the area:
Lee Carter was great and I'm, err, also kinda wondering what happened to him.
I was waiting for his right-ward turn so I could unleash Pee Farter onto the world, but it never came
He became jaded from life in politics so he retired and started a music career under the pseudonym Oliver Anthony.
