It's basically what stops you from turning your brain into mush and turning into a zombie if you're a chronic alcoholic. It's stored in your liver and you drain it when you drink too much.
Oats and whole grains, beef, and fish. Black beans as well. If you drink more than your average person eat a lot of one, or all, of these as a habit. I think pork has some too, a low amount, but chicken definitely does not.
It should be an additive to beers but no one has allowed that to happen yet. Look up Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome if you're wondering what the consequences of not having enough are.
last post of the night. Eat your Thiamin.
edit: it's also called B1
editedit: supplements work too
Us alcoholics got vitamin b shots in the ass in rehab and I was also taking supplements along with phenobarbital.
B1 is Thiamin, so yeah that sounds tight
It helped a lot, I was feeling pretty good after all the shots and supplements.
I'm just trying to eat right since rehab probably isn't going to happen where I'm at lol. But, yeah, a lot of the worst long term parts are just us fucking draining obscure resources from our body
I should really get my mom to start taking her supplements seriously since she's an alcoholic. Thanks for this post, it's a good reminder.
Yeah I've been dealing with some shitty feelings from it and making sure my nutrients are right has really fucking perked me up.
