    As we see time and time again, centralization and planning win out. Larger companies operate more productively because of their scale. This allows, and also enforces, that they adhere to certain expectations. That said, they uphold the fact that they give employees breaks as being an obvious sign of their virtue, despite the fact that all employees deserve breaks.

      I'm not sure it's about centralization. I think having more employees just creates more exposure to lawsuits and labor board complaints. Smaller orgs can vary more, which let's then be both better and worse. It lets there be "ethical" business owners and the scummiest guys you've ever seen. I don't want to be dogmatic about centralized vs non centralized institutions, each do different things well.
