      it's an evolution of a greek meat sauce that was called chili for some reason. it's primarily a vehicle to shovel carbs and cheese down your gullet. in defense of the chili itself, the spice blend is one of the core components of the whole shebang and is lowkey fucking heavenly.

            in addition to what's already been said, most grocery stores carry "cincinnati chili" seasoning packets and it's easy to make a batch with beans instead of beef.

              I like to make it out of lentils, when they're right on the verge of overcooked the texture comes out similar to restaurant beef chilis
