some guys legit suicided themselves into imperialists because thats how imperialism fucked their family so hard. someone along the line that was important to their family died and they lost hope and were willing to die in reckless abandon. in korea these guys would put big explosive bombs on the end of a stick, wait in a ditch, and yolo themselves head first into a tank's treads.

and its because they didnt have anything to live for. their family was dead.

war isnt glorious. its struggle beyond belief.

and thats the thing a lot of western leftists dont understand. like, my family didnt fight nazis just cause. family members went missing because of the nazis. that sort of shit fills you with so much rage that suicide isnt enough. its not something that just ebbs and flows either, its very persistent.

has enough of any western society reached that point? doubt it

anecdote about 'Dare to Die' squads among China's early socialist movement with Sun Yat-sen

During the Xinhai Revolution itself, many Chinese revolutionaries became martyrs in battle. "Dare to Die" student corps were founded, for student revolutionaries wanting to fight against Qing dynasty rule. Dr. Sun Yatsen and Huang Xing promoted the Dare to Die corps. Huang said, "We must die, so let us die bravely".[1] During the revolution, suicide squads were formed by Chinese students going into battle, knowing that they would be killed fighting against overwhelming odds.

well there's thousands of people whose family members have been killed by the police. thousands more who died of heroin ODs thanks to the sacklers. died in industrial accidents because of lax safety and health standards. died of black lung or cancer from toxic work environments etc etc. but it's not enough. and propaganda teaches everyone to blame themselves for everything that happens to them.

and i know those aren't as bad as what happened to the loved ones of the people who joined suicide squads in revolutions.
