Edit:

We are back:

Please refer here for more info regarding the .19 changelog https://join-lemmy.org/news/2023-12-15_-Lemmy_Release_v0.19.0-_Instance_blocking,_Scaled_sort,_and_Federation_Queue

Sorry for logging you out and If you have issues logging in, please clear your "Hexbear" cookie and attempt logging in again.

Edit:

Initially we had planned to upgrade both Lemmy & pictrs. Instead we are just going to upgrade Lemmy, meaning the downtime should only last two hours.

Hexbear will be down this Sunday while our devs and infrastructure people upgrade the site to Lemmy version 0.19.1. The downtime is expected to take roughly between 8 and 12 hours. 2 hours.

During this time Hexbear will be inaccessible. Please follow our account on Mastodon for updates: https://toots.matapacos.dog/@hexbear

Other Hexbear services such as Hexbear Live will be unaffected, so consider hanging out there! https://live.hexbear.net

Here's quick guide to the basics:

    Show

If you want to add a video to the queue, click the "+" (#1) to bring up the URL text box (#2) that you can copy/paste the URL into. Press the "queue next" or "queue last" (#3) as appropriate. You'll pretty quickly get the hang of the etiquette. As for sites that are compatible, youtube is a safe bet for us non-admins. Basically if you can watch a youtube video without logging in to youtube, then it'll play just fine - though sometimes there's country-specific blocks enforced by youtube itself.

#4 is the skip button, which you'll also get the hang of the etiquette for pretty quickly.

Often people will be on in advance of official start times of the scheduled videos, queuing up stuff they like. It's pretty fun to see what music / educational videos / silly stuff / full-length kung fu movies / classic slapstick comedy / etc. that others like.
