Edit:
We are back:
Please refer here for more info regarding the .19 changelog https://join-lemmy.org/news/2023-12-15_-Lemmy_Release_v0.19.0-_Instance_blocking,_Scaled_sort,_and_Federation_Queue
Sorry for logging you out and If you have issues logging in, please clear your "Hexbear" cookie and attempt logging in again.
Edit:
Initially we had planned to upgrade both Lemmy & pictrs. Instead we are just going to upgrade Lemmy, meaning the downtime should only last two hours.
Hexbear will be down this Sunday while our devs and infrastructure people upgrade the site to Lemmy version 0.19.1. The downtime is expected to take roughly between 8 and 12 hours. 2 hours.
During this time Hexbear will be inaccessible. Please follow our account on Mastodon for updates: https://toots.matapacos.dog/@hexbear
Other Hexbear services such as Hexbear Live will be unaffected, so consider hanging out there! https://live.hexbear.net
Maybe edit the pinned post title so people see this message about clearing cookies? It's awfully quiet here.
works fine on chrome for me. I deleted the cookie using EditThisCookie extension and then logged in
I had to login using Firefox as clearing all my cookies didn't help in Chrome. I tried this extension but it looks like it's for desktop only. Is there a solution for Chrome on mobile?
EDIT: I am not a thorough person, fixed after I cleared for all time instead of the default one week.
Just jumping in to the top comment to say that on Chrome desktop you can punch this
chrome://settings/content/all
Into the browser bar to delete cookies from specific websites.
I haven't tried it on mobile yet.EDIT: Doesn't work on Chrome mobile, you have to into Settings -> Site settings (scroll down, it's in the Advanced category) -> All sites, and then scroll down to find Hexbear.net
On Fennec just check cookies, tabs, and cache in the delete browsing data options menu
thank you for your work comrades ☭ one step closer to the revolution ✊
The Revolution is exactly 12 lemmy updates away, trust me I ran the numbers through the historical materialism calculator (I played a game of Vicky 3) and that's what it came up with.

Synchronized video playback with built-in chat, which can play from a variety of sources and which regular users can queue up the video playlist. It's a relaxing place to hang.
Are there channels that i'm not seeing? I only see "Pure Kino(movies)" with nothing going on right now.
That's the only channel. Usually there are movies starting at 9pm eastern time Fridays (critically acclaimed movies), Saturdays (anime), Sundays (also critically acclaimed movies, but usually more upbeat than the Friday ones), and Wednesdays (pure slop, lots of dudes getting kicked in the face).
Here's quick guide to the basics:
ShowIf you want to add a video to the queue, click the "+" (#1) to bring up the URL text box (#2) that you can copy/paste the URL into. Press the "queue next" or "queue last" (#3) as appropriate. You'll pretty quickly get the hang of the etiquette. As for sites that are compatible, youtube is a safe bet for us non-admins. Basically if you can watch a youtube video without logging in to youtube, then it'll play just fine - though sometimes there's country-specific blocks enforced by youtube itself.
#4 is the skip button, which you'll also get the hang of the etiquette for pretty quickly.
Often people will be on in advance of official start times of the scheduled videos, queuing up stuff they like. It's pretty fun to see what music / educational videos / silly stuff / full-length kung fu movies / classic slapstick comedy / etc. that others like.
This is just another flashpoint in the war on christmas, I see which side hexbear is on
Hexbear has joined the war on Christmas on the side of Christmas. Smh
I'm going on a hunger strike. You are doing this on the same day I have to spend all day with my conservative in-laws for Christmas...
What am I supposed to do for 8-12 hours on the day of the 24th then?
Thanks to the devs for taking time during the holidays to update our shitposting site.
Some additional changes:
- official frontend now federates emoji sizing. no more gigantic emojis on other sites
- Our emoji picker is now more cache-friendly, and loads and performs a lot faster. Also, no longer shows the 'native' emojis.
- The inline emoji picker now searches keywords and displays it as well.
- Code of conduct updated around content warnings

Code of conduct updated around content warnings
my ideology is spreading
Same lol I think it was a bug with the emoji picker
Edit: I posted about it 5 months ago, hopefully this update actually fixes it
