I just looked into this and the most left people could find were a few scattered progressives who otherwise work with Democrats anyway. There are a few self described socialists actually, but most of the time they'll be the only one on a city council of 15 people.
There are some DSA members on LA's city council. Apparently one of whom (Eunisses Hernandez) is a prison abolitionist, and that's awesome. But none of these people have majorities and seems like they're only barely tolerated by Democrats.
