      Naxalites still control like several dozen districts in India and have a pretty big influence in about half the states.

      Something like 100k sqkm of land is under their control.

        Right but they control much of the Red Corridor. The article's emphasis on cities spread across India is somewhat confusing. Delhi and Mumbai are not Naxalite strongholds at all. This suggests a distributed campaign as opposed to a people's army in a growing contiguous region.

          I wonder if the farmers strike have anything to do with this. Maybe there is a growing influence closer to the cities and this is them getting ahead of it.

            I think it makes tons of sense practically since India is urbanizing. Just thought it was interesting! Could definitely be related to the farmer's strikes though I'm ignorant of Naxalites' current strategizing.
