Still remember the time the smoke detector in my old apartment started going off for no reason
Me and my SO spent an hour making sure that nothing was on fire and another five hours trying to get our landlord to give us a ladder to check out the detector (old mill conversion, very high ceilings, smoke detector was at least 12 feet off the ground)
After 8 hours or so of the damn thing going off, my SO took a broom and threw it like a javelin, smashed the fucking thing in two.
So, long story short, look for Kidde brand combination CO2 and smoke detectors because those things have been working a-ok in our house now and haven't given us a lick of trouble
