I gotta say it - I still think the "low morality rate" stuff is for pure fucking ghouls. Maybe that's just me...

I put the entire lengthy thread into the comment to be certain more people read it.

Summary: it's by a woman who is a writer who uses her real name as her Twitter handle and she also has a website in her name. Her dad had a fall, he developed viral pneumonia which went unnoticed, and he almost died because all the ICU beds were full with covid patients. The chance she made up the story is surely very small to non-existent.

I can't say I'm surprised by the hostile response I've received so far. It was entirely predictable. Two people replied. One is a bona fide ghoul who "did his own research" on ICU capacity in that state. He accused me of using emotional manipulation and he intimated she was lying. The other reply accused me of suffering from Trump derangement syndrome.

The thread is ~1.5 years old and I suppose everybody assumes I'm a lib and I decided not to correct them. There are a disturbing number of vile reactionaries in there. It's an international forum and the worst people could be from anywhere. I assume most of them are American. I could be wrong but that's totally my feeling.

I went grocery shopping tonight and I couldn't help but wondering how many people in that store were also ghouls. Republicans keep a very low profile where I live. It's a super-liberal place but basic math is basic math. A certain percentage - bet it ~1 in 10 or ~1 in 15 - are ghouls. Some of you live in places that make my situation seem like a cakewalk but since the pandemic started - I've gotten more and more freaked out.

I wonder how long it will take (Years from now? Only months?) until such people start to use batshit race science arguments like - the pandemic was good because it culled the weak. As a socialist I obviously have to have a least some faith in humanity but to be honest - it's ebbing away. I think very soon - in the next couple weeks or so - the democrats are going to start to implode. They'll fail on everything. The US will default in ~3 weeks and the democrats will get destroyed in next years elections. And they'll do even worse every two years from then on.

It's becoming impossible for me to even imagine a scenario other than in 2024 the GOP is in total control for at least a decade. They'll control everything on a federal level in a brand new way. Not only will they control the presidency, the house, the senate, and the supreme court - President Ghoul will put batshit 100% loyal to him hyper-partisans into every government agency including the DOJ, the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, the Pentagon, etc. And they'll control more state governments too in the same way.

Well, I ranted myself out. I don't even know what else to say. On a positive note - at least tomorrow is Friday.
