Am I just built different or am I doing something wrong? How did I cut my cheek?!

I also get the roof of my mouth scratched up whenever I eat like a toasted sandwich, but I continue because it is my lot in life to eat avocado toast, lie, and be communist

Yeah. I take a bit with my teeth and on the way, the roof of my mouth gets scraped. I think I'm staying hydrated. Only drink water now.

How's your overall mouth health? Brushing everyday, flossing, etc? Bad oral hygiene can weaken the tissues inside there, making you more prone to cuts, bleeding etc.

I brush every day and floss at least every other day. I don't bleed too much when cut and my mouth heals pretty fast from damage like this. It's just weird.

I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome and that affects tissues, so that might be it.

I just wanted to blame toasted bread. I thought we all were acting against our better judgment to consume the food of the gods.

Something you could try is frying the bread in a pan. I do that for some sandwiches, and it gives the bread the toasty flavor but it doesn't harden like it does in a toaster.

It shouldn't be cutting your cheek unless you're turning it to charcoal.

Do you have similar problems with other crunchy foods?

I eat tortilla chips very carefully. I avoided Tootsie pops/hard candy as a kid because a bubble meant it could catch or cut me. Are those not normal things either?

Should probably see a doctor or a dentist about that if you can, not sure which profession it would fall under.

Good call. I probably shouldn't spend my day using hexbear as WebMD. But I honestly didn't expect this post to reveal potential medical/dental issues.

          This is fascinating though.

          Edit - Thanks!

During routine dental cleanings the dental hygienist usually does a "gum squishiness" test (basically pressing against your gums with a metal tool) to test the health of your gums. I've been using the Listerine Total Care mouthwash for awhile and it seems to have kept my gums healthy (based on the hygienist telling me so).
