I eat tortilla chips very carefully. I avoided Tootsie pops/hard candy as a kid because a bubble meant it could catch or cut me. Are those not normal things either?
During routine dental cleanings the dental hygienist usually does a "gum squishiness" test (basically pressing against your gums with a metal tool) to test the health of your gums. I've been using the Listerine Total Care mouthwash for awhile and it seems to have kept my gums healthy (based on the hygienist telling me so).
It shouldn't be cutting your cheek unless you're turning it to charcoal.
