What a joke of a release. Like props to the artists but the actual release is shit. Server issues constantly, less functionality, less reliability. Straight up cash grab money hungry shit. Nonfunctional communications, it's a pretty big wash. Not saying Vicarious Visions didn't put out a solid client when they had to, more so activblizzard is making the same exact mistakes as the company that first acquired d2 did. SAD to see a classic game get RIPed so hard. VV implied in some statements they'd actually like to work on the game but it seems like their boss sucks ass and I don't doubt it
I feel incredibly sheepish about buying it, I thought “ooo, I spent many hours on this, and now it looks nice.” I played it for 15 minutes and was like “oh yeah, this is just a nice looking version of a wildly outdated game” and went back to Path of Exile. I hope they use my 40 dollars responsibly
How's PoE since the flask rework? I gave up on the game because they murdered my labrunner builds with those changes (and I was sick of seeing my old builds die to balance changes).
Honestly, it's just my go to Action RPG when I'm in the mood. I've never even gotten to max level, so those meta things don't effect me. I know there's another big update coming, maybe some of your old builds will be viable again?
Maybe, but I doubt it; flasks were a huge chunk of my movespeed :/ I'll probably look over the patch notes for next league once they come out, but in my experience, when GGG nerfs something, it never gets restored to anything like its former glory.
I hope they use my 40 dollars responsibly
It's already in an offshore bank account
When it was announced originally I thought there wasn't anyway they could fuck it up. Then they pulled mod support, didn't add a skill bar, and made it online only. In hindsight I should've realized the Cosby company would find some way screw it up. I also now realize Rockstar will also probably go out of their way to screw up the Gta3 remake somehow, cool. At least I got a good month of playing Grim Dawn in since D2 was off the table.
Oof yeah the server stuff is beyond frustrating and gamebreaking. Probably going back to Path of Diablo when they drop their new season. Project Diablo 2 is also something I gotta try. As it stands d2r is worse in every way besides the graphics
I'm having fun for nostalgias sake but yeah multi-player sucks on switch. Only having a handful of emotes to communicate (if you even find another player) is tough
Huge D2 fan, the PD2 season winded down for me right as D2R came out but still haven't got round to it yet and idk if I will. My Dad's trying it out today (another huge D2 fan) but playing LOD with a new skin doesn't really appeal to me after PD2, especially with the classic Blizzard release issues (that still aren't resolved, from what I've heard).
I'd say the main two features are the end-game map system and the corruption modifiers. The new end-game is a simple version of PoE's - drop maps, roll them, run them for profit. It adds a little more depth and replay-ability compared to LoD's baal/cow/pits spam, and the corruption modifiers add a new level of customisation/'chase' gear to go for. Other than that, there's plenty of bug fixes, balance patches, new skills/archetypes, tonnes of QoL (like being able to stack runes/pgems), increased inventory size etc. Plenty of stuff that would be annoying to play without now I've got used to it.
Well they balanced a lot of things to be more in line with viability. Really breaks up how stale the meta is for builds and itemization
Straight up cash grab money hungry shit
Blizzard since like 2010
why are people still surprised?
Anyway, I've been enjoying Project Diablo 2 lately. It's a really cool modded private server.
I'm waiting for blizzard to drop support for the original D2 and have it get scooped up by GOG and have them host servers. I really don't want to give Blizzard money.
I wish that would happen, but I don't think Blizzard will ever let go of the IPs.
I've heard a lot of shit but I haven't run into a single issue myself. That being said it's still the same game and there's only so many times I can run trav, meph, pindle, not to mention the annoying quest areas like maggot lair
I played Diablo 2 for like 4 years until I realized that I was just throwing a slot machine and that playing the game wasn't unto itself its own reward, and then I felt incredibly manipulated by Blizzard, and I've never stopped feeling salty and vindictive about it ever since.
