Also it runs absolutely great on Linux with the Vulkan graphics API. More games should do this.

That's right this has been a Linux propaganda post the whole time.

Doom 2016 is awesome. A showcase of brilliant, focused game design based on an authentic understanding of the classic game's strengths.

Edit: said eternal instead of 2016 but honestly the same still applies

excessive weapon switches fried my brain with that one, too many enemy weaknesses to keep track off IMO. in 2016 you could just blast them with whatever

At first I hated not being able to just stockpile my favorite ammo type or 2.

But I learned to love it. It's there to basically force you to be awesome.

Not only do you have to switch weapons, you have to close in and chainsaw motherfuckers a lot more frequently than you did in Doom 2016. To get the ammo.

It's honestly fucking great, especially since I realized why

Oh actually I meant to say doom 2016 but also Eternal is amazing as well. Its actually leaning towards Quake and it really turns shit up to 11. It's more arcadey but in the best of ways.

Ah yeah. Ive heard it turns It up a bit which is wild since Doom is already so explosive. Sounds fun to me but I've heard some say it almost makes it a bit too much to handle! Guess we'll see

They improved the mechanics, but they got kinda lazy on the level design.

None of it feels like an actual place, like if you created a bunch of connected arenas in dev textures then replaced everything with whatever fit that actual shape.

Also the long platforming sections really killed the pace.

I played Doom Eternal so much dang much over the lockdown... because it was one of the best running games on my Ubuntu desktop! :tux: For real though those games are really fun!

Nice! I'm hype for eternal after this. It's running so well. Sticking at my 1440p monitors 144hz on ultra settings. There is literally no way it could be smoother for me. Clearly it's the year of linux on desktop!

Hell yeah, those games benefit so much from snappy framerates
