    No, they gained independence and tried to build a non-aligned movement and then the U.S. orchestrated a mass murder campaign (whitewashed by the imperialist powers) through the military and turned it into a gangster dictatorship (ignoring prior disinfo campaigns, CIA bombings). It is not “in part” thanks to the American empire, since the U.S.‘s cover-up of the invasion of East Timor was only due to the reactionist anti-communist position of the nation under Suharto, which only came into play due to the final success of Western regime change.

      Yea thats what i meant (Jakarta method etc etc). but yea instead of 'in part' it should've been 'entirely'
