I was out with some people on Halloween night, walking around drunk and having fun. It was nearing the end, when a couple of women in our group starting singing. More of us were about to join in, when someone catcalled one of them and she snapped back.
It just instantly deflated the mood. As a guy, I was confused at first and didn't get what had happened. We'd kept walking and stopped singing. Over the next minute or so, though, I registered what had happened and my heart sank.
It was the first time I'd actually experienced a woman get harassed (though I'd heard some really scary stories from women in my life). We were all in such a celebratory mood, letting loose and one guy just ruined it. You can't ever just be free and express yourself because some dipshit might make it about himself.
I'm really sorry for all y'all have to go through.
I wanted to fight back when I realized what was going on but that guy was bigger than me and was surrounded by his friends and I was the only guy in our group. I felt scared and powerless and angry but the women had snapped back unafraid. I was really stunned at that because I couldn't imagine being that brave.
Sorry this is so rambling but this incident keeps knocking around in my brain and I had to write it down. We will not have any sexism under communism.

Unfortunately, some men really do feel entitled to women's attention. I've dealt with it a fair amount and it's never flattering or a good vibe. It just makes me more distrustful of the men I see when I'm out. One example from this year - I had to stop going to a convenience store by work because a couple cashiers wouldn't stop being creepy to me lol. I just want to buy energy drinks in peace smh 😔✊
