The Palmer Raids were a series of raids conducted in November 1919 and January 1920 by the United States Department of Justice under the administration of President Woodrow Wilson to capture and arrest suspected socialists, especially anarchists and communists, and deport them from the United States. The raids particularly targeted Italian immigrants and Eastern European Jewish immigrants with alleged leftist ties, with particular focus on Italian anarchists and immigrant leftist labor activists. The raids and arrests occurred under the leadership of Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer, with 6,000 people arrested across 36 cities. Though 556 foreign citizens were deported, including a number of prominent leftist leaders, Palmer's efforts were largely frustrated by officials at the U.S. Department of Labor, which had authority for deportations and objected to Palmer's methods.

The Palmer Raids occurred in the larger context of the First Red Scare, a period of fear of and reaction against communists in the U.S. in the years immediately following World War I and the Russian Revolution. There were strikes that garnered national attention, and prompted race riots in more than 30 cities, as well as two sets of bombings in April and June 1919, including one bomb mailed to Palmer's home.

Between November 1919 and January 2020, Palmer’s agents deported nearly 250 people, including notable anarchist Emma Goldman, and arrested nearly 10,000 people in seventy cities.

Coyote sighting in your suburban neighborhood? Kill it.

These things will kill small dogs and cats. If I have to pick one then it's my pets no question. Coyotes are kill on sight.

100 feet from the house? You'd better believe that's a killin'

They're ants, and they spread like crazy. You let some exist 100 ft away and eventually they'll be on your door.

    I agree with the rest.

Keep your pets indoors and on a leash when outdoors. Coyotes have settled the outdoor cat debate in north america; there won't be any more outdoor cats within a decade or so.

Note that Coyotes respond to extermination attempts by going to ground and producing larger litters. If you decide to exterminate indigenous wildlife so your invasive species can wander outside and only have to worry about getting mauled by other cats, dogs, cars, busses, trains, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and all the other things that kill animals in urban and suburban areas you'd better get every coyote, then spend the rest of your life fending off the ones that move in to the desirable territory where there are no established coyotes to compete with.

      So, like, good luck.

The story of Coyotes is really cool. Like "Oh, you wiped out ever large predator in the US? I'm just gonna schooch in here. Don't mind me. It's free real estate, after all."

And then there are coyotes in Manhattan.

Ironic that this originally started with a comment saying that wishing death upon animals is caveman-level emotional intelligence.

Shitty little rat dogs are mostly working dogs bred to hunt and kill vermin with extreme, often distressing, prejudice.

Like people get chihuahuas and terriers because they think they're cute and it's like no, I'm sorry, that thing is the fucking terminator but for the entire order rodentia. It was bred to do only one thing and that is kill. Cats kill for food or for fun. Shitty little rat dogs kill because they know nothing but killing and desire nothing but killing.

Source; I've lived with all kinds of cats and most of them were pretty shitty mousers. I've lived with one terrier-chihuahua mix. She killed EVERY SINGLE RODENT that entered my house over a ten year period like rodents had wiped out her family and she swore unlimited vengeance. That was the only period in that house we never had any voles or mice. Like if you want a cat get a cat. If you want to build a mountain of very, very small skulls get a terrier.

“Listen, and understand! That Terminator Terrier is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you mice are dead!”

Hexbear goes from "humans are caveman when their first thought is to kill a pest animal" to "the outside cats deserved it and genocide all dogs I think are too small" in 1 comment.

        Fucking contrarians lol.

Dog breeds are cool and good. Breeding to conform to breed standards instead of breeding for specific tasks and for good temperment should be a crime.

:geordi-yes: Working dogs bred for health, temperament, and working qualities by people who will give them a fulfilling life doing the job that they were bred to do

:geordi-no: Forgetting that dogs were domesticated as our working partners and unless you have some kind of pariah type dog your dog probably has a very specific skill set it's genetically inclined to be good at and find fulfilling.

I'm very judgemental about people who get working breeds as pets. There are plenty of companion breeds selected to be good companions, live in small spaces, be happy with relatively little exercise (compared to a husky or cattle-dog), and get along with people. And instead people get cattle dogs and hunting dogs and sled dogs and retrievers and pointers and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

this tbh, pets are taken for granted too much. A pet as socially intelligent as a dog or cat should be well taken care of if you've chosen to keep it.

also designer dogs neeeeeed to be stopped that is a cruelty

Word. Unlimited genocide against the American Kennel Club (I thought about doing the KKK thing but it's inappropriate for this one bc it would be equating unethical dog breeding with racial terrorism against black people.)

as someone who used to have a pug, it got really fuckin painful for them towards the end. They had to be put down as a mercy just because of how much it hurt to breath after a bit.

I wouldn't kill pets of course, but I feel like a hard ban on continuing the line of such pets who are bred with "looks" over "function as a living being" (such as pugs) is a hard necessity.
