This week on Gladio Free Europe, we got spooky with it and talked about vampires. We watched the 1922 classic Nosferatu, as well as the 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire, the former being an unauthorized adaption of the story of Dracula, the latter being a horror film with a comedic streak depicting the making of Nosferatu with the premise that the actor playing Count Orlok, the vampire of Nosferatu, is an actual vampire with whom the director had struck a deadly deal in exchange for appearing in the movie. We talk about vampire folklore, how it came to be a popular topic in Western European literature, the making of the movies in question, and more!
