Episode 121 - Marxist Place of Ideas (w/ Andrew Sullivan)
open.spotify.comListen to this episode from Bad Faith on Spotify. Brie sits down in person with author and podcaster Andrew Sullivan to continue a conversation they started on his Dishcast podcast last month. After discussing the value of intra-ideological exchange, the two debate the existence of structural barriers to equality, the definition and value of critical race theory, equity vs. equality, and whether facial neutrality obscures substantive inequity in our legal system, or system of governance, and more. It's an extremely spirited, extremely good faith debate. Full video of this episode to be posted to Bad Faith YouTube. Subscribe so as not to miss it. Hard to listen to
Hard to listen to because the of power dynamics involved.
The whole unspoken implication is that he was doing some kind of praiseworthy act by even appearing on her show.
The he proceeded to take a paternalistic shocked tone, implying that any ideas she proposed were preposterous, while deliberately misunderstanding these ideas, as if he doesn't have a phd. Right wing debating in bad faith 101. Which is why it was counterproductive imo.
Brie didn't help herself by, surprisingly, formulating her proposals quite badly. Not so badly that a phd could misunderstand them tho.
He almost was forced to state his position a couple of times, which was something.
Yeah really lived up to the shows name
It seems to get a lot of hate from all over. Dems, the left ©️, the right. I listen because Brie comes across as the most articulate and capable woman left of centre in the country tbh.
