    I like the part where Fisher talks about how ancient societies pre-emptively generated cultural and religious norms to resist the worst elements of capitalism before it was even developed, like we always knew it was coming and how it would cause social alienation. I don't remember the specific examples he gives, but I know Aristotle mentioned paying workers as an unjust form of making money. The old testament also frequently mentions how maintaining large amounts of wealth will poison a person's soul.

    Has anyone else written about capitalism like this? Like societied unconsciously realizing the impulse of capital before it was established?
