I just found out that there are still ads on Twitter, I don't know if it's the VPN I use or the 5 different adblockers I have active, but one of them is keeping me from seeing all the dropship scams and porn ads.

Yeah, of course not. Google and Apple want you watching ads.

You have to side load it (like Android, but more annoying... for now anyway).

Sideloadly and altserver (altstore) are two popular community supported (and free) ways of sideloading to iOS.

If you don't have or purchase a developer cert for your Apple account you can only (currently) sideload for 7 days then the app expires and you have to renew it. There's also an Apple-imposed 3 sideload limit. Both apps above can be setup to renew the app automatically every like 5 days.

You can also purchase the iOS dev account upgrade ($99/yr) or purchase a "shared" one (and some are free online too, but Apple often shuts them down of course) for like $5-15/yr depending where and what type you get etc.

I'm purposely avoiding listing websites, but you can find all the info online.

I have purchased the dev certs for iOS devices (the shared ones) and they do work very well. I can sideload any apps right from my device and they remain for a year/end of life for the cert (autorenew to ensure they remain).

but I used both sideloadly and altserver in the past and they work pretty well. I think my only annoyance (tiny gripe) was it's available only on Mac and Windows. I hope one or both of them produce a docker or at least Linux verison eventually that works over WiFi. that would be great.

thanks, I am obviously not up on this. this kind of hassle is why I barely use my phone in favor of my desktop

My understanding is Extended forks are essentially "beta" verisons of non-extended. They contain more stuff that hasn't been tested and labeled as stable yet basically. I just found a repo that constantly updates and stuck with it.
