Title says it all. It takes zero effort to open one and I spend most of my day staring at my terminal anyways so I could administrate it pretty easily. If we do have one (or like a freenode channel) let me know what it is so I can join.
LiberaChat is the replacement for the Freenode IRC network (operated by former Freenode staff members), which underwent a hostile takeover about a year ago. As far as IRC networks go, it serves as a hub for open source software development and many other collaborative projects.
RE: @Bobby_DROP_TABLES : As far as I know, we don't have any IRC channels. LiberaChat would probably be a good place for one, but it would likely have to go in the unofficial namespace (##hexbear rather than #hexbear) unless someone wants to actually go through the effort of registration.
Unofficial namespace for sure if we wanted to make it a causal thing, we could do one in the general namespace if we used it for people contributing to site development. I’m thinking about seeing if I can do anything for upkeep.
Yeah basically, I’m unclear on what exactly happened but suddenly everybody jumped ship so I assume it’s dead.
I forget too, but about a year ago the leadership changed, fucked everything up, and most channels moved to liberal overnight.
It's cool but I'd personally be more comfortable with something e2ee like Matrix than IRC
