Anyone else Jewish and having a really weird time dealing with this? I was at my families annual Hanukah party, and apart from a few of my cousins and I, all my relatives seem to be losing their shit. I guess it makes sense that they're all losing it. For Zionists with otherwise progressive beliefs, trying to rationalize support for Israel can only result in a shitload of internal contradictions, and we all know that leads people to weird places. It was awkward because my family knows my thoughts on Zionism, and some of my relatives were straight up icing me out. It's even worse trying to go to Shabbat service and stuff like that. I feel like I've been totally cut out of a community that has done a lot to keep me sane over the years.
This is probably not a great stance to have, given that most Zionists are just Jewish people that (for one reason or another) haven't been able to unlearn things that most of us are taught starting at a really young age. I grew up with a Jewish religious education and considered myself a Zionist for most of my life. The things that started to change that for me were 1) going to Israel on birthright and seeing shit for myself and 2) meeting people who were willing to make a good-faith effort to challenge my beliefs. Edgelord takes like this aren't doing anyone any good.
That's weird, I have the same setup and it's working fine for me. Could be related to whatever OS you're using or the version of Firefox you have installed. Might be worth looking into getting Pi-hole setup if you can't get Ublock working again and are willing to get a little technical.
Fair, but there's a big difference between the Ukraine invasion and this. Ukraine was the result of a calculated effort to force Russia's hand. This seems like an unforced error, and I don't see why we should assume Maduro is incapable of making miscalculations just because he has the right ideas in a lot of other areas.
Chrome or Firefox?
Do you genuinely think this is a good idea for Venezuela? It's not that I think it's unjust, I honestly don't know enough about the history of the disputed territory to pass judgement. It just seems like a really dumb move from Maduro. There's no clear benefit resource wise (they already have enough oil), its not going to foster any goodwill among other South American countries, if the US gets involved Venezuela is fucked, and even if successful they're going to have to sink a lot of energy into administering the newly annexed territory (which is never easy).
If you told me "Germany is making people agree to support Israel as a requirement for citizenship" I would probably assume it was rumor made up on /pol/
I mean, things absolutely will get worse if/when Trump wins in 2024. Not looking forward to it.
Anyone else notice how the liberal attitude towards the media has become identical to MAGA people since they started giving Biden less favorable coverage?
I can't think of a better reason to post tbh
I mean it's the US military so I'm gonna bet that it's actually antisemitism. I doubt any of them like Muslims enough to be pro-Palestine either.
Is Gaetz still getting investigated for pedo shit or did that sort of just fall off?
Never been prouder of my home state
FDR stormed out of the room and Stalin had to convince him that he was just joking about giving all German officers
Online discourse has gotten considerably worse since libs discovered whataboutism as a way to avoid examining any potential inconsistencies in their worldview
Zionism is not religious fundamentalism, it's ethno-nationalism. There is no scriptural justification for Zionism.
