True, I probably know people who daydream about being animals but don't talk about it. You've got me doing some self-reflection, and I can't even remember pretending to be an animal when I was a kid. That's funny, kids love pretending to be animals, but I don't remember ever doing it. I liked to play vet's office, but I was always the vet and I got my little brothers to be the animals, or if they didn't want to play, I'd doctor my stuffed animals. I have lots of flying dreams, but I'm always myself, not a bird. I have a bird phobia anyway, so that would be a nightmare for me. I guess I remain the lone non-furry.
Did you like to pretend you were one of the chickens? I had a cat who I loved (she was the best kitty in the world, I still miss her), but I don't remember pretending to be a cat with her.
No, I don't like chickens. Nor I like to pretend to be a cat, despite liking them. Nor I am a furry. But I know a lot of people who would never be furries nor anything of the sort still have a deep connection to animals.
Then, a lot of non-furry people like to pretend to be cats/dogs for fun/kink, and so I see them in the furry-spectrum. Again, I'm not a capital F Furry. I don't get the kink of dressing in those fursuits where basically nothing of you is visible and everyone looks the same but in different colors. But I totally get small masks, cat ears, peg-tails and leashes/chockers.
Whoops, I thought it was a scale from "photoshop cat ears" through "wear a tail sometimes" up to "wear a full suit." Is that offensive? I was pretty much kidding on the square up there, I genuinely don't know much about it. I'll delete if I was accidentally offensive.
Sometimes I wonder if everyone online is some level of furry except for me.
Not only online,
I am truly alone in my norminess :kitty-cri:
No, I mean, just look wider into people who feel connections to and might daydream with being an animal

I was raised among chickens

You see that is where you are wrong.
Look into your feelings. You know it to be true.

I don't think anime catgirls/boys count as furry

I'm not a furry expert either, I just think those are two separate fandoms, though I guess with possible Venn diagram convergence going on
